Qdot helped Rayn (Private) Limited, an Islamabad-based organisation delivering data-driven technology, public health and climate solutions, creative digital services and platform development, design and implement an ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System. Qdot was engaged in May 2025, and Rayn achieved certification in August 2025, approximately three and a half months later, through NORMEIRA ,an EIAC-accredited certification body.

Rayn subsequently completed its first annual surveillance audit in 2026, with its certificate reissued in September 2026.

About Rayn

Rayn (Private) Limited is based in Islamabad and works at the intersection of data, technology, public health and climate. Its certified activities cover the design and delivery of data-driven technology, public health and climate solutions, creative digital services and platform development.

Work of this kind is knowledge-based and project-driven. Quality depends less on physical production and more on how well projects are scoped, designed, reviewed, delivered and handed over, often for institutional, development-sector and international partners who expect consistent, well-documented delivery.

The Challenge: Bringing Structure to Knowledge-Based, Project-Driven Work

ISO 9001 is often associated with manufacturing. Applying it effectively to a technology, consulting and digital services organisation requires a different approach. Rayn needed a quality management system that would:

  • Fit project-based delivery. Establish consistent processes for how assignments are scoped, designed, reviewed, delivered and closed across different service lines.
  • Work for a distributed team. Support professionals working in Islamabad and remotely through consistent processes, shared records and communication.
  • Control design and development. Address requirements, reviews, verification and changes for data solutions, digital services and platforms.
  • Demonstrate credibility to partners and clients. Provide recognised certification evidence for supplier evaluations and partnership due diligence.
  • Remain practical and efficient. Introduce a lean quality system without unnecessary documentation that could slow down a fast-moving team.

Why Rayn Chose Qdot

  • ISO 9001 experience across service sectors. Qdot develops quality management systems for professional services, technology and consulting organisations, not only manufacturing businesses.
  • Customised, not copy-paste. Procedures were developed around Rayn's actual project and service delivery processes.
  • A clear, time-bound plan. The engagement followed a defined sequence from gap analysis through certification, supported by a client-side project coordinator and regular progress updates.
  • Independent certification guidance. Qdot provides consultancy and training services rather than issuing ISO certificates, supporting clients through independent accredited certification audits.

The Qdot Approach

Phase 1: Gap Analysis and Project Planning

Qdot began with discussions with Rayn's top management and a gap analysis of its existing practices and documentation against ISO 9001:2015. The findings were used to develop a project plan with defined responsibilities, a nominated project coordinator and a timeline leading to certification.

Phase 2: QMS Documentation and Team Training

Qdot developed and upgraded quality management system documentation for each function, built around Rayn's project-based way of working. The documentation addressed organisational context, interested parties, risks and opportunities, quality objectives, design and development control, project and service delivery, externally provided services, documented information, and monitoring and measurement.

Qdot also trained Rayn's cross-functional project team on the documented quality system and delivered ISO 9001 awareness training online for key staff, making the programme suitable for professionals working both on-site and remotely.

Phase 3: Implementation

Rayn's cross-functional team implemented the documented quality management system under Qdot's guidance. Departments developed and maintained the records and evidence needed to demonstrate that the processes were being applied across the organisation's service lines.

Phase 4: Internal Audit and Management Review

Qdot conducted a pre-assessment and internal audit of the quality management system, supported the identification and correction of gaps, and guided the management review process.

During management review, Rayn's leadership evaluated QMS performance, reviewed relevant information and identified opportunities for continual improvement before the external certification audit.

Phase 5: Certification Audit Support

Qdot prepared Rayn for the independent certification audit conducted by NORMEIRA, an EIAC-accredited certification body. Qdot supported the team throughout the audit process, including the closure of audit findings.

Rayn successfully achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification in August 2025, approximately three and a half months after the engagement began in May 2025.

The Outcome

  • ISO 9001:2015 certification in approximately three and a half months. Rayn progressed from engagement in May 2025 to successful certification in August 2025.
  • A quality management system built for knowledge work. Design and development, project delivery and review processes are structured and documented across service lines.
  • One consistent system for a distributed team. Office-based and remote professionals work using common procedures and documented records.
  • Greater credibility with partners. Accredited ISO 9001 certification provides recognised evidence of Rayn's quality management practices for supplier evaluations and partnership due diligence.
  • A system maintained beyond initial certification. Rayn completed its first annual surveillance audit in 2026, with its certificate reissued in September 2026.

Key Takeaways for Technology, Consulting and Development-Sector Organisations in Pakistan

  • ISO 9001 is not limited to manufacturing. Technology and professional services organisations can use ISO 9001 to control how projects are scoped, designed, delivered and reviewed.
  • Design and development controls matter. For data solutions, digital services and platforms, Clause 8.3 of ISO 9001:2015 provides requirements for managing design and development activities.
  • Plan for remote and hybrid teams. Shared documented processes, accessible records and online training help maintain consistent implementation across locations.
  • Keep the quality management system practical. Documentation and controls should support daily work rather than introducing unnecessary administrative burdens.
  • Choose an accredited certification body. Organisations should verify the certification body's accreditation and the applicable scope before proceeding with certification.
